Description of the plan to measure and evaluate the results of the program.

The primary mission of the Thomas Sports Group, Inc. is to create organized sports leagues for children between the ages of 6-18 living in the City and County of Schenectady. These leagues and teams will promote Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Self-esteem, and Leadership. The Thomas Sports Group, Inc. will also provide for all age groups a Job training and Job placement program for people living in the City and County of Schenectady.

We evaluate the results of are program by expanding children horizons by interacting with them, providing children with diversified community relationships, to ensure and enhance good behavior, we have both parent and participants sign our behavior creed. We motivate participation by displaying individual statistics that will give them a sense of accomplishment. To promote attainable goals, we distribute trophies to all participants. Children that show commitment to their team and the league are awarded special trophies for leadership, sportsmanship, and courage. We recruit volunteers from the community, universities, and businesses, that will coach and mentor children. We have successfully developed relationships between our sponsors. We are able to give formal recognition to our sponsors and everyone who contributes thru our quarterly newsletters and our affiliate Public Access Channel 16 as well as our Website, which became available in March 2005 (TSGI1.ORG).  The collaboration of the Thomas Sports Group, Inc. and the Furman Street Learning Center has allowed us to expand each other programs to include Saturday enrollment of the After School Program, working with children in social literacy and the team sports component. Overall the program has been successful in children participation, compliance of the behavior creed, helping children exercise and establishing our goals to motivate children to become better teammates, producing sportsmanship and self-esteem as well as creating leadership skills. The Job training and Job placement program will help instill a positive outlook during the participant’s job search and support applicant with their new job endeavor.
